One of the finest films I have had the pleasure of watching this year comes out of our sisters to the north, Canada, called Ginger Snaps. A tragic werewolf tale, the story is more about the bond of two sisters, high school outcasts with a fetish for death. Rather than the more fashionable Goth, these two express their angst by way of gory photography. Photos of their own death in various forms of suicide.

Sworn to die together, at their own hands, these two teenage sisters Ginger (Katharine Isabelle - Bones, Disturbing Behavior) and Bridgitte (Emily Perkins, who starred as young Beverly in Stephen King's It), set out one evening to seek vengeance against a school bully. Along the way, they encounter a werewolf who brutally rips away at the older Ginger, until finally being accidentally saved by the school's local pot dealer, who kills the monster with his van.

Unfortunately for the two sisters, the horror only begins as Ginger remarkably recovers from the attack, and begins to develop an appetite, sprouts a tail and generally behave strangely. Bridgitte struggles to find a "cure" that will help return her sister back to normal ... before it's too late ... before she becomes a full-fledged werewolf

... before she eats her sister.

Also featuring, Mimi Rodgers (X-Files, Lost in Space, The Rapture) as the guilt ridden mom of the two sisters, desperately trying to help ease their painful transition into womanhood.

If you enjoyed An American Werewolf in London, try this Canadian twist on the classic werewolf tale. And for more info, check out the official web site:
