Moved up a week to be released Oct. 10th 2008, Quarantine is a new horror flick in the vain of Cloverfield, or even The Blair Witch Project, where most everything is seen through the eyes of the camera held by the characters. Starring Jennifer Carpenter (who plays Dexter's sis in the popular Showtime series), as reporter Angela Vidal, as she tags along a crew of firemen for an evening with her handy cameraman, Scott Percival. Answering a 911 call, they all enter an apartment building where they find much more than your basic family dispute ... they find one of the residents is a flesh eating zombie!

OK, easy enough ... kill the cannibal woman, or run screaming out of the building. But wait ... there is a twist, as the folks outside have locked up the building, sealing all the folks inside. And anyone trying to escape the building WILL be shot onsite. Whatever has plagued this building, some bizarre form of rabies or whatever, NO ONE is getting out, infected or not. This becomes a major problem for residents, police, firefighters and the news crew, as they try to find answers, or at the very least, survive this nightmare before they all become infected. Unfortunately for us, they have already told us that there are NO survivors ... just this lil ole digital camera recording of the experience, and the poor victims in the film:

Quarantine is an American version of last year's Spainish horror, REC. While this remake holds to most of the original, both in style and story, REC delves a bit more in the cause of the virus. A sequel to this gem from Spain is in the works, so expect the Americans to follow suit, as was done with the Ring - Ringu films.
