Many moons ago, there lived two perversions of mankind, vampires and werewolves. For hundreds of years they lived in relative peace and harmony with each other, vampires looking after the werewolves by night, while the lycans (werewolves) watched over the sleeping vampires by day. A rather nice arrangement, until their races grew. Vampires became arrogant and snobbish, while the Lycans got a tad carried away with their lust for man flesh. This separated the classes between the races, as the Lycans became slaves to their Vampire masters.

Vampire Coven

• Viktor, Vampire elder - Bill Nighy (1989 version of The Phantom of the Opera)
• Kraven, Vampire coven leader - Shane Brolly (Impostor, Deadly Swarm)
• Erika, Vampire seductress - Sophia Myles (From Hell, and watch for her to play Lady Penelope in next year's, The Thunderbirds)
• Khan, Vampire death dealer commander - newcomer Robby Gee
• Soren, Kraven's right-hand Vampire - actor/stuntman, Scott McElroy

Inevitably, this lead to a revolt and a war that has lasted for hundreds of years. Well, not really a war ... the Vampires won, and currently spend their nights hunting Lycans. Well, not most of them ... Vampires developed their hunt class of werewolf hunter, called a "Death Dealer." Today, most of the Vamps are wealthy and slutty, enjoying the lifestyle of an aristocrat. Meanwhile, the Lycans try to stave off extinction, and have developed a spiffy plan to get even with their ancient masters.

Lycan Clan

• Lucian, Lycan master - Michael Sheen (Mary Reilly, and look for him in the upcoming, Timeline)
• Raze, Lycan enforcer - actor/stuntman Kevin Grevioux (Pineal Eye in Men in Black 2, and co-writer/producer of Underworld, along with fellow stunt pal Danny McBride who wrote the screenplay and plays Mason)

This brings us to Michael, a kind human doctor who is unaware of the the secret war beneath the city. Unaware that he has been targeted by both the vampire overlords and the werewolf rebels. Unaware of his true nature, that within his blood holds the key that may finally tip the balance in an ageless war.

This war has dragged on for centuries. Viktor, one of the 3 vampire elders, has reigned for the better part of his 1400 years as a Vampire. A couple of hundred years ago, he decided to take a very long nap, hoping to strengthen his vampire powers. Meanwhile, Kraven has comfortably ruled during Viktor's sleep, probably hoping he might never awake. He cares little for the werewolf threat, opting to focus his attentions to the erotic pleasures of his people.

Selene, on the other hand, is dedicated to her job as a Lycan assassin. She was brought into the Underworld, following the massacre of her family by werewolves when she was just a child. Turned by the sleeping elder, Viktor, she has become one of the most powerful vampires in town. She catches wind of plans by the Lycan to grab Michael. Lucian, former ruler of the Lycan clan, has been waiting 6 centuries to retake the throne. As both races fight to get their fangs in the chosen human, Michael, which side will win the Underworld???
