If you haven't seen this American remake of the Japanese film, Ringu, I highly recommend adding this one to your DVD collection (which is what I would have done, myself, but I was desperate one night for something new to watch on TV ... Pay-Per-View would have to do). The Ring made a lot of claims during the film's release, as being scarier than "The Sixth Sense." My problem with that statement was that I didn't consider The Sixth Sense particularly scary. To me, that film was thought-provoking with a slow, dark pace that created a building tension until it's mind-blowing climax. Usually, I can guess how a story is going to turn out, long before it's conclusion. In the case of The Sixth Sense, I didn't ... and I kept kicking myself that "I shoulda known THAT!!!"

No matter what you think, while watching The Ring, you will NOT be able to guess the ending ... just ride this one out folks.

There are a thousand reasons why we shouldn't watch this remake of a true American horror classic, but I am almost 40 years old and tired of trying to fight these endless Hollywood debates. It is, what it is ... and these days no one should be bitchin' about other people trying to feed their families. Is this greed? exploitation?? an insult??? Yep. But face it ... California just elected the highest paid actor in Hollywood to govern the state. Live with it.

The first of two popular video games-to-film by German director Uwe Boll, The House of the Dead prequels the arcade/console series (five titles, if you include the bizarre alternate version of The House of the Dead 2 called, Typing of the Dead, and Nintendo's The Pinball of the Dead). While the video game series chronicles the aftermath of some dark genetic conspiracy to take over the planet, the film introduces us to the story in the same manner most horror fans are familiar, with a group of teenagers in search of a really cool party. And what would a really cool party be without a bunch of raving mad zombies hanging around ready to feast on teenaged flesh!
